Donations

The Web Foundation aims to secure substantial funding through a multi-faceted strategy. The foundation is still in the planning phase, and those interested in supporting the organization (notably as founding donors) are encouraged to contact donations@webfoundation.org.

Seed Funding

The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation is the seed funder for the World Wide Web Foundation, with a generous grant of $5 million over 5 years. Read Tim Berners-Lee's speech in which he announced the creation of the Foundation, the press release, and view video and photos from the event.

Major Donations

With a goal of raising $50 - $100 million to fund projects that will have significant impact in the identified programs.

Supporters Programs

Smaller contributions (of time, money, services, hardware, etc.) and a grass-roots membership program (“Friends of the Web”) for a growing community on the order of millions of people.
