If you’re interested in helping to empower humanity, are bright and motivated, or if you have skills that you think would be of value to the Web Foundation or our partners and grantees, then please check below for current opportunities or let us know how you think you can help.

The Opportunities

(NEW) Volunteer Coordinator: We’re looking for one dedicated individual who can help us leverage the talent of the hundreds of volunteers around the world who have offered their support. Let us know if you think you’re up for the challenge. This is a part-time, unpaid position with weekly obligations. Candidates should be Web-savvy, team oriented, and dependable. Your location does not matter as long as you have a good internet connection although Boston, USA would be ideal.  For now, we ask that only English speaking candidates apply – at least until the Web can do real-time voice translation ;) - Please send your volunteer request with the subject “Volunteer Coordinator

Help research:

  1. Partner research – finding potential funding opportunities / partners and providing critical background information
  2. Specialized research – maintaining internal database of state-of-the-art developments in Web technologies
  3. General research – finding and synthesizing stats and trends on mobile phones, ICTs, international development, Web technologies, etc.

Help communicate our message:

  1. Building demos – programming voice, Web, and/or sms interfaces on mobile phones to demonstrate various problems and solutions
  2. Content aggregation – expand our internal database of relevant news and content for future discussion
  3. Content distribution – coordinating dissemination of news and content through social media channels
  4. Creative marketing – conceptual design and implementation across physical and virtual mediums
  5. Message sampling – searching and summarizing public discussion of the Web Foundation on formal channels and social media sites
  6. Market research – focus groups for testing our broad range of messages
  7. Translation – we aim to be truly international so need help translating our website, marketing material, demos, etc. into other languages
  8. Graphics support – designing and editing creative work in Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Powerpoint, etc.
  9. Video editing and captioning – processing raw footage and making it accessible for others

Help support our systems:

  1. Systems admin – build and maintain internal systems – must be familiar with SVN, LAMP, etc.
  2. Web support – support our growing website – must be familiar with CSS, HTML, WordPress, etc.
